Creating a wall hanging with natural fibres provides an opportunity to explore traditional basket weaving techniques while making a unique piece of art for your home.
The essence of this workshop is creativity and experimentation with plant fibres for their textures and colours.
Commencing with guidance in various commonly used basketry techniques such as ‘twining’, 'stitching' and 'random weaving' to use to make your own decorative wall hanging. By adapting these age-old skills, you’ll discover how versatile and creative fibre art can be, resulting in a textured work that reflects your personal style.
Programme for this workshop:
Spend the morning learning some basic basketry methods, to utilize in your wall hanging.
Set up a framework to weave either across for a vertical wall hanging or to weave around for a circular piece.
An abundance of materials will be available to play with: sticks, vines, prepared plant fibres for twining, as well as colourful threads, strings and fabrics.

What to bring: An old towel, a peg, flowers snips or garden scissors, a water spray bottle, a darning needle and a waterproof bag for taking home your damp towel.
